Hey Google, make a group call now on Nest Hub Max

The third option is mobile calling, which allows you to link your speaker with your mobile carrier plan. Again, calls cannot be received and this option is only available with selected carriers in the US and Australia . Google-supported calling allows you to make audio calls to mobile, landline, and business phone numbers at no additional cost. Check to see whether the Google Account shown is the same as the one connected to your speaker or display. Tap the “another account” or “Add another account” option to swap accounts. That’s how the speaker knows what number to dial when you say, “Hey Google, call mom.” To do this, you need to give your speaker access to an option called personal results. Original Google Home, a Mini, Max, or Hub—you can use it to make phone calls. No matter if you want to ring your mom or order a pizza, Google can do it. It takes a few steps to set up, however, and there are some limitations that might prevent you from using the smart assistant for a phone call. If you want to use your Nest speakers or displays to make calls to personal contacts though, there are a couple of steps you need to do first. Remember, the feature is only available in the US and Canada. If you're in the UK, we have a separate feature for how to set up Google Duo calling on your Nest speakers and displays. Google's Hands-Free Calling feature allows you to call anyone for free, including personal contacts or local businesses if you are in the US or Canada.

Google-supported calling

Duo calling allows speakers and displays to make and receive video and voice calls to anyone with a Google Duo account. This works worldwide, allows for calls between speakers/displays and mobile devices and calls are free. You can make voice calls using Nest Mini smart speakers -- or video calls with the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max smart displays. Zoom or Google Meet on a laptop might be your usual video calling M.O., but smart displays and speakers are making hands-free video and voice calling easier all the time. Google Nest Hub smart displays can help you Zoom while you make lunch in the kitchen, and Nest Audio and Nest Mini smart speakers can give you hands-free voice calling convenience, too.

You may use this when you’re away from home to call your local emergency services instantly. Using Nest Aware Emergency Calling while you’re away from home will put your call through to a call center that can deploy emergency responders to your house. In most cases, if you dial 911 from a mobile phone, your request is routed to the nearest 911 call center.

Making Calls with Google Home or Google Home Mini

Google Home can only call non-premium rate numberswithin the U.S. and Canada. You can also link your phone number to Home and then you can make international or premium calls, and your account will be charged the normal fees you would pay if you used your phone. Suppose gadgets were eligible to use contextual clues to ascertain the situation. In that case, it’s possible that Google Home could one day be capable of acting as detectors for burglaries that are in progress and notify emergency services on your behalf.

The United States of America and Canada have access to this feature . Your region may have access to a variety of other calling options. A Nest Aware user in the United States can use Google Home to instantly contact a nearby emergency call center, even if they are out of the country, such as while on vacation. The emergency calling function of your Nest Aware membership may not operate if the speakers and displays supported by your membership are not located at your living area physical address. It's also very easy to set up these contacts using verbal commands. To set up using the display, say "Hey Google, set up household contacts." On the display, you can then select the people to add as household contacts or select "Can's find someone?" to add them.

You can also add yourself to the household contacts, which allows guests to call you from your speaker or display. That’s both good and bad at the moment, which I’ll get into next. For most users, their Google Home will be ready to make phone calls without any extra setup. After Alexa gave users the ability to call other Echo owners, Google upped the ante with true phone calls. If you live in the U.S. or Canada, you can use your Google Home to place a call to anyone’s phone. You don’t need to limit yourself to other people who have a Google Home. For Google Duo, you'll only be able to video call a contact that also has Google Duo.

If you aren't sure if the person you want to call has Google Duo, you can open the Google Duo app directly on your smartphone and search the list of contacts at the top. Below the contacts with Duo that show under the 'Connect with Duo' section, you'll see a list of the rest of your contacts without Duo under the 'Invite to Duo' section. Google's Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max can be used for voice calls and video calls, but for video calls, you'll need to set up Google Duoor Zoom. Google-supported calling and carrier calling do not support incoming calls. It may take a few minutes for your contacts to sync, particularly if you have many or new contacts. If your contacts aren’t synchronizing, check the settings on your phone to ensure that the option to sync contacts is switched on.

To keep this from happening, you’ll want to link your phone number to Google Home—it’s super easy for Project Fi or Google Voice customers, but you can also link a non-Fi/Voice number too. When the phone system gives you the prompt for the option you want, such as "Press 2," say "Hey Google, press 2." With a Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max display, you can also use the dial pad on your screen. You may access the Contact data from your devices by scrolling over to the People and sharing page and tapping there. To access your account, locate the account icon in the bottom-right corner of the app and tap it. Yes, you can use the Google Home app to immediately contact a nearby emergency call center, even if you’re away from Home.

Once you're all setup with Google Duo, making a video call using the Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max is very simple. As mentioned above, to make a video call using the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max, you'll need to have set up Google Duo, Google Meet or linked your Zoom account. When you’re on a call, the person you're in a call with will hear you say "Hey Google," then the call will be muted while you complete your request.

To do this, open the Home app, then slide open the menu. Here, you can choose which account to use for outgoing calls. Are user to user, meaning Echo users can only call other Echo users with their speakers.
